BEHIND THE MUSIC

The What:

ThanksFriedrich is built around grappling with everything that makes us human. Specifically our emotional essence, our natural ambition and our natural state of yearning for more. The sense of yearning is consistent through all of his music, and it calls for listeners to feel the music and let it help them be brave enough to set forward in their life affirmation process. In-keeping with ThanksFriedrich’s broader philosophy of “affirming ones life” and “breaking the mould”, his music doesn’t fit into a singular pre-ordained box. Rather it flirts with many genres of electronic music without wanting to settle in any pre-defined genre. There are, however, clear influences from melodic techno artists like Tale of Us and Anyma, from Deep House producers such as of Black Coffee and groove pioneers like Guy Gerber. But above of the yearning synths show the clear influences his favourite artist - Rufus Du Sol.

The Why:

ThanksFriedrich is an awakening that encourages people to recognise that life is short and can end at any moment. It encourages individuals to not wait for the future to start living, but to enjoy every moment of the only life we know we have while we can.  It encourages people to pursue their dreams, even if it means breaking away from your peer group, or societal expectations / norms. It’s a call to recognise and enjoy the beauty of human consciousness and the experience of being alive. ThanksFriedrich is about being true to oneself, fulfilling one's dreams, and having a ball of a time on their own journey.​After a series of life-changing events in a short space of time, I've accepted the fragility of the human condition. I've accepted that life as we know it can end at any moment and that it must be seized and lived to the fullest. I've had my own kind of awakening, and discovered that I had to create music. ​I pulled myself back from my corporate job (which I now enjoy on a part time basis) and began creating the music that has being longing to escape. The music that expresses itself through me has a sense of yearning too. Mirroring my desire to feel more, to live more, to experience more, to absorb, and in turn add to the beauty that exists in this world. Equally, I want it to help you escape the harshness of the world, which also currently exists, in spades. To dance it's weight of your shoulders and help harness its energy for good.I want you to feel the music pulse through your body. I want you let yourself move with it. That is what I do, and why it is out there for anyone and everyone to hear.

The Name:

​"ThanksFriedrich" is the project title because it its thanks to 19th Century Philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche's work, along with the events that unfolded in my life which ultimately drove my decision to creatively and wilfully affirm my life through music.
